Police make major drugs seizure

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into a major drugs haul in the Rathcoole estate last week, police have confirmed.

Detectives seized suspected cannabis resin with an estimated street value of over a quarter of a million pounds during the search of a house in the estate on Wednesday, August 18.

A 39-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested and are said to be assisting police with their enquiries.

A PSNI spokesman confirmed that enquiries into the seizure are ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000.

Deputy Mayor Tommy Kirkham, a councillor for the area, described the drugs haul as “a good result”.
