Road ‘on target’ for February start
KPL DEVELOPMENTS, the company behind the new link road in Ballyclare, has confirmed the project is on schedule to start in February next year.
Work on the £25million relief road, which is part of the £400million Westlands housing scheme, was scheduled to get under way earlier this year.
However, the work had to be postponed because of environmental regulations when several badger setts were discovered along the proposed two-mile route.
Specialist consultants identified 12 setts along the planned route, all of which had to be fenced off and protected until the badgers could be moved to new setts.
