Strictly for a good cause
BALLYCLARE-based dance company First Dance NI is putting eight somewhat reluctant but excited couples who have never danced before, through their paces as they prepare to take part in the town's very own 'Strictly Come Dancing' evening!
Each nervous couple is preparing to perform one Ballroom and one Latin American dance in front of an audience of 500 people - and it's all in an effort to raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event will be staged in Ballyclare's Sixmile Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 23 at 7.15pm and the couples, who are all local, have got just 10 weeks to prepare for this glittering evening.
The person organising the show and its choreographer, Victoria McAdoo said: "Everyone is really excited about taking part in this event - slightly terrified about performing in front of the huge audience, but I know that the support will terrific and everyone will be behind them."
Taking on the role of 'Brucie' as host for the evening will be comedian Gene Fitzpatrick with a judging panel made up of former international footballer Glenn Ferguson, local producer Wilfie Pyper and Victoria herself.
First Dance NI is hoping to raise at least 5,000 on the evening for Macmillan Cancer Support, but need your support on the night. Tickets to the evening are priced at just 10 and can be purchased either from Sixmile Leisure Centre or via the www.firstdanceni.co.uk website.
So go on out and support your favourite couple - remember the couple with the most audience votes wins!
Victoria is also returning to Ballyclare with her beginners Ballroom and Latin American dance classes.
Now in its fifth year, these popular social dance classes are back in Ballyclare Town Hall. They have been going from strength to strength each year with beginners learning Latin American, Ballroom and Salsa.
The hour-long classes commence on Monday, September 13 at 7.30pm and are aimed at everyone, whether you think you've got two left feet, are an absolute beginner, or just want to have fun while keeping fit!
Go along with your friends, partners, husbands or wives on Monday at 7.30pm. Classes cost just 5 per person and do fill up quickly, so don't miss out…
