Top US broadcaster backs local Christian radio station

ONE of the USA's leading Christian broadcasters has given his backing to a new radio station project set up by a Newtownabbey couple late last year.

Philip and Gillian Adams, in conjunction with well-known gospel recording artist and production engineer James Strange, started Divine Authority Radio Station in November.

The non-denominational, independent Christian radio station, based at the couple's home in Ballynure, broadcasts over the internet 24 hours a day.

As well as giving a platform to homegrown gospel artists and ministry, the channel will also feature the teachings of Dr Charles Stanley, the Founder of In Touch Ministries, Georgia, and the late Dr J. Vernon McGee of Thru The Bible Ministry in California, who prior to his death made many recordings for broadcast.

"We are so blessed to be able to carry Dr Stanley's and Dr McGee's broadcasts," said Philip Adams, Divine Authority's Programme Manager.

"These men are highly respected Christian leaders and teachers. They have a huge worldwide following and to have them on our station is not only a great honour, it's a great vote of confidence in Divine Authority."

Dr Stanley and Dr McGee's ministry will be carried on Divine Authority most weekday evenings between 7pm and 11pm.

Divine Authority Radio will also broadcast a series of new, locally produced programmes throughout 2010, including 'Christian Conversations' - a series of in-depth interviews with members of the Northern Ireland Christian community."The reaction so far has been really good and we are just getting busier and busier," Philip revealed. "We're hoping this will grow and grow and eventually we'll get the backing to enable us to broadcast on AM/FM radio as well as over the internet."

The Divine Authority team are also planning to organise a number of Praise Nights around County Antrim in the coming months and would like to hear from any local churches interested in hosting such an event. Anyone who would like to get involved should contact Gillian on 07805 464512 or email info@divineauthority.com
