Two men arrested during disturbance

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into a serious public disturbance in Ballyclare at the weekend, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to Main Street at around 1.30am on Sunday (March 7) where a 36-year-old man had sustained serious injuries in an alleged assault.

A PSNI spokesperson revealed that a large, aggressive crowd attempted to hamper police as they gave the man first aid treatment.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with disorderly behaviour and a 26-year-old man was arrested for causing grievous bodily harm with intent and related charges.

The police spokesperson stressed that “enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
