Man charged over assault on teenager

DETECTIVES in Newtownabbey have charged a 42-year-old man with attempted murder, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

It’s understood the charges relate to an assault on a 16-year-old boy in the Antrim Road area of Glengormley on the evening of Saturday, May 19.

The man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday, June 1.

As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
