MAYOR Victor Robinson hosted a special afternoon tea at Mossley Mill to thank the sponsors of the recent Search for a Star competition, which raised around £3,500 for three very worthy causes.
The sponsors were joined by winner of the talent competition, 14-year-old singer and musician Christina McCabe from Glengormley.
Alderman Robinson thanked G Force Amusements and United Bus Company for sponsoring the first prize of £1,000; Blu Zebra and CW Events Management for sponsoring the £500 second prize and Glen Houston Entertainment for sponsoring the £250 third prize. Thanks also went to Abbey Centre, where the first round of auditions took place, for providing £50 gift cards to all nine runners up, and Dargan Press who provided the promotional and print material for the event.
“Without the help and support from these organisations, the Mayor’s Search for a Star would just not have been possible. It is great to see everyone pull together and provide help in aid of three very worthwhile causes,” he said.
“Big thanks also to the judges and compere for their input and contributing their time. I greatly appreciate the generosity and commitment of all those involved and the help they have provided me in raising funds for my charities - Alzheimer’s Society, Epilepsy Action NI and Reach Charity.”
