THE Mayor, alderman Paula Bradley, has wished everyone in the borough a peaceful and prosperous new year.
Reflecting on her first six months as Newtownabbey's First Citizen, she said: "It's hard to believe that we are at the end of 2010 and that I find myself halfway through my Mayoral year already. I am thoroughly enjoying meeting so many different people and finding out more every day about the great work going on in our borough."
Looking ahead, she added: "With the winter chill continuing to bite, this will be a particularly harsh festive period for some members of our community. I would ask you all to take time to remember your neighbours during these difficult conditions, particularly the more vulnerable and the elderly.
"Life can get very busy at this time of year, but I hope that like me, many of you will get to recharge and spend time with loved ones.
"I wish you well and I hope that we can all look forward to a happy and healthy new year in 2011."
