South Antrim MLA Pam Cameron has pledged to take action to help create ‘dementia friendly communities’ in Northern Ireland.
The DUP politician joined other MLAs and representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society at Stormont to provide a statement of the action they will take to support people with dementia and their carers.
Mrs Cameron pledged to tackle the stigma attached to dementia and raise awareness of the Society’s Dementia Friendly Communities initiative, which aims to improve the lives of people with dementia in Northern Ireland.
A ‘dementia friendly community’ is where people with dementia are understood, respected, supported and feel confident they can contribute to community life.
