MLA Pam Brown has welcomed a drop in Accident and Emergency waiting times at Antrim Area Hospital.
Following the publication of the Department of Health waiting time figures for April and June, the south Antrim representative said: “These figures show that patients waiting more than 12 hours at Antrim Area Hospital Accident and Emergency Department has fallen dramatically from 335 patients to zero.
“This is a very welcome development and shows that the turnaround team appointed in April are working hard and getting results in improving patient care at the hospital.
“I wish the turnaround team every success with their on-going work and hope that they can build on their results so far for the whole Northern Trust area.”
In June, the Northern Health Trust unveiled its new £9million accident and emergency department in Antrim Area Hospital.
Over twice the size of the previous department the facility is expected to handle around 90,000 admissions.
