Mossley WI remember a long serving member

President Ann Graham welcomed all to the January meeting of Mossley Women’s Institute.

She informed those present of the sad news of the death of long serving member, Florrie Halliday - and members stood for a minute’s respectful silence.

The Speaker was Knockagh Area Executive Member Margaret Stokes who spoke about the Women’s Institute Homecraft Syllabus. She showed members a number of things that she had made and encouraged everyone to try their hand at some of the various crafts.

She also spoke of the One Day Schools and Craft Weekends that members could attend to help them get started. Betty Whiteside thanked Margaret on behalf of everyone.

Dorothy Auld won the competition for the Prettiest Christmas Card, with Jennifer Cosgrove coming second.

The ballot winner was Jennifer Cosgrove.

President Ann Graham presented Marguerite Wilkie with a small gift as a token of thanks for all the help she has given the Institute during the past year.

The meeting ended with the singing of The Countrywoman’s Song.

The next meeting of Mossley WI will be held on Thursday, February 2, in Mossley Parish Church Hall, Manse Road - and the speaker will be from the Elisabeth Svendsen Donkey Sanctuary in Ballymartin.

New members/visitors will be made most welcome.
