Move to tackle traffic issues in Ballynure

New waiting restrictions for traffic in Ballynure are set to be introduced later this year.

The move comes after complaints from local residents about motorists blocking access to their homes at Gullivers Lane.

The residents say the entrance to the development is often blocked by parked vehicles, causing traffic disruption in the area.

Residents who live close to the entrance of the site claim they cannot get into or out of their driveways at times due to parked vehicles.

They have also raised concerns about the safety of both motorists and pedestrians as the parked vehicles block sightlines along the main road through the village.

Commenting on the situation, a Department for Infrastructure spokesperson said: “TransportNI is currently processing legislation for new waiting restrictions in Ballynure village. These new restrictions will include the provision of double yellow lines at the junction of Gullivers Lane with Main Street. The need for these restrictions was highlighted to TransportNI by the local community. The new restrictions for the village, including those for Gullivers Lane, should be implemented within the next few months.”
