A GLENGORMLEY man was left recovering in hospital this week following an attempted murder bid at his Hightown home.

The 31-year-old, named locally as Frankie McKeown, was shot twice in the stomach and leg after a man armed with a shotgun burst into his Mayfield Court home at around 10pm on Wednesday, June 1.

A woman who was also in the house at the time of the attack escaped uninjured.

Mr McKeown was taken to hospital with a severe abdomen injury and partial leg injuries. Police have since described his condition as stable.

It is thought the gunman made off in a white Honda Accord with another man. The vehicle was later found burnt out in the Ligoniel area.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Gillis has appealed for witnesses to contact police.
