Ballyclare Primary School has elected its new student council.
With support from the Electoral Office in Glengormley, the main school hall was converted into a polling station complete with two booths and a ballot box.
The election candidates then stood up in class and presented their manifestos before pupils voted for their new class representative.
Mrs Mulligan, school principal, commented: “The pupils had a lot of fun whilst learning about the process that goes on in a real election.
“There was a great deal of excitement and expectation as the votes were counted.
“We held a special assembly where the elected council received a winning rosette and a school council badge from our special guest visitor, Paul Girvan MLA.”
The newly-elected council will hold regular meetings and will be involved in projects to enhance the learning experience and play time for their classmates.
