A TEAM of boys from the 16th Newtownabbey BB were crowned UK and Ireland Masterteam Champions at the grand final of the games in Scotland at the weekend.

Jack McMahon, James Loney, Kyle McCauley and Mark Hetherington along with their BB leaders and parents travelled to Kilmarnock on Saturday (April 13) to take part in the final.

The Masterteam competition consists of 10 rounds of questions based on the Bible, BB knowledge, dingbats, mystery, sport, film, general knowledge, pop music, Formula 1 and blockbusters.

The team were crowned UK & Ireland and Masterteam Champions beating of tough competition from their English and Scottish rivals.

It was the first time in the company’s history they won the championship.

The 16th Newtownabbey Boys’ Brigade Company connected to the Belfast City Mission in Rathcoole booked their place in the final after winning the recent Irish Region Final. The cup and trophies were awarded by John Duncan Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran.
