Campaign launched to reduce speed limit outside Doagh Primary School

A petition has been started with the aim of reducing the speed limit on Main Street in Doagh.

The petition was started on Monday, June 27 by concerned resident, Chris Swan. Speaking to the Times, Mr Swan said: “I have started the petition to get the speed limit reduced to 20mph along Main Street in Doagh. Speeding vehicles are a big problem in the area. By starting the petition I hope to raise awareness of the issue and show TransportNI that the residents are calling for a reduced speed limit to be introduced.”

Chris, who’s children attend Doagh Primary added: “A 20mph zone, which would run throughout the year, could help to reduce traffic flow and make the road safer for pedestrians. This would be positive for the area.”

The petition will close on Friday, July 15. It will be available to sign in a number of venues in the village including, the Cornerstone Cafe and Doagh Playgroup.

A family fun day will be taking place at the playgroup on Monday, July 11. Chris is encouraging the public to attend the event and show their support for the campaign.
