Children's Hospice receive generous gift from PSNI

The device had been seized by local officers following an investigation where a male was convicted for Fraud by False Representation. An application was then made to the court requesting that the iPad was donated to charity rather than being destroyed. A judge agreed with the police’s proposal to give it to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Welcoming the kind donation, Cllr Billy Webb, Northern Ireland Hospice Chairman said: “We are very thankful for the very generous donation of an iPad which was donated by the PSNI. NI Children’s Hospice offers a home from home environment for children with a life limiting or life-threatening illness and provides support to their families.

“Having equipment that children are familiar with at home can make all the difference to making children feel comfortable and at ease whilst spending time at Horizon House.

“This iPad will certainly be put to good use in the Children’s Hospice entertaining children and their siblings with educational games.”

Established in 1996, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the only dedicated palliative care service in the province and the only organisation that can offer high level support to life limited children with very complex needs who require 24 hour specialist care. Every year, NI Children’s Hospice cares for around 300 life-limited children and young people, and their families living in Northern Ireland who need care that only the Children’s Hospice can provide.
