A Whiteabbey man helped to raise an incredible £5,676.24 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by completing the annual Malin Head to Mizen Head charity cycle.

Michael Murphy completed the mammoth challenge with brother Paul and friend Derek Cullen to raise the cash for the charity.

The trio cycled from the Malin Head, the most northern part of the island, to Mizen Head, the most southern part of the island.

Michael said: “I loved every minute of the challenge and didn’t stop laughing all week. It was an unbelievable experience and I made some very good friends.

“I’d really encourage anyone who is toying with the idea of taking on a challenge to go for it - you won’t regret it and you’ll be serving a very good cause.”
