POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses following a fatal road crash near Kingsmoss on Wednesday afternoon (May 23).

Thirty-year-old Colin Gilmore from Newtownabbey was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a tractor on the Sallybush Road shortly before 4pm.

Police are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a blue coloured lorry, thought to have been travelling on the Kingsmoss Road around the time and believed to have stopped at the scene of the collision.

Investigating officers can be contacted at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000.

Colin was a former member of the Boys’ Brigade and the Saturday night Youth Club at Ballycraigy Congregational Church.

“As a church, our thoughts and prayers are with Colin’s family at this difficult time,” Rev Henry Montgomery said.

Local councillor and MLA Paul Girvan added: “It’s an absolute tragedy that this young man has lost his life in this way and my sympathies go to his family and friends.

“There are a lot of tractors and other farm vehicles out on the roads at this time of year and I would just appeal to all road users to be extra cautious, particularly when travelling on narrow country roads.”
