FOUR members of Newtownabbey Council’s new Flags Sub-Committee will attend the Rural Community Network’s ‘Flagging it up’ conference later this month.

The conference, which will take place in Dungannon on May 17 as part of Community Relations Week, aims to develop an understanding, sharing and learning within and between communities through the exploration of flags and emblems. The event will involve keynote speakers from Queen’s University and the Linc Centre.

At their monthly meeting on Monday evening (April 30), members agreed that alderman Paul Girvan (DUP) and councillors Gerry O’Reilly (SF), Pat McCudden (Alliance) and John Scott (UUP) should attend the conference along with the relevant council officer.
