STAFF and pupils from Glengormley Integrated Primary School (GIPS) were at Stormont on Friday (March 2) for the launch of Integrated Education Week 2012.

Children of all religions and ethnic backgrounds from 62 schools and colleges across Northern Ireland gathered at Parliament Buildings, where former Ulster and Ireland rugby star Trevor Ringland spoke about the need to promote a genuinely shared future.

Integrated Education Week (March 5 to 9), organised by the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education, aims to promote the benefits of educating children from different communities together.

Glengormley Integrated Primary School will be holding its own celebrations to mark 30 years of integrated education, including a balloon launch event this morning (Friday, March 9).

GIPS pupil Erin Cunningham helped launch the integrated education celebrations at Stormont on Friday, March 2.
