Diabetes UK Northern Ireland has thanked a Rathcoole family who raised £670 for the charity by organising a concert in a local social club last month.
Amanda Foster and her cousin, Nicola decided to fundraise for the charity as Nicola’s father, Ivor Foster has Type 2 diabetes. They held a concert featuring Pink tribute act, Alicia Karr on Friday, September 2 in Whitehouse Working Men’s Club on the Shore Road.
“We were very pleased with how the night went and would like to thank all those who came along and supported it. As well as Alicia and Chris Karr, we would like to thank the venue and all the local businesses who contributed to a fantastic ballot with prizes including a champagne hamper, vouchers for Jury’s Inn and Linfield merchandise. It was a brilliant night and we’re delighted to raise so much for a charity that does so much to help those affected by diabetes,” Amanda explained.
Naomi Brown, Acting Fundraising Manager for Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, commented: “We rely so heavily on individuals like Amanda and Nicola to take up the challenge and help fund our activities and there’s no doubt they have put a lot of hard work and effort into raising this amount of money.”
