RATHCOOLE has been named Northern Ireland’s ‘Best Kept Large Housing Area’ at the SuperValu Best Kept Awards.

The annual awards are organised by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC) and sponsored by independent retail group SuperValu.

Established in the 1950’s, they have commended thousands of towns, villages, housing areas, schools and healthcare facilities on their work to improve and preserve the environment over the past six decades.

NIAC and SuperValu announced the province’s Best Kept Towns, Villages and Housing Areas recently and Rathcoole was selected as the Best Kept Large Housing Area in Northern Ireland.

North Belfast MLA Paula Bradley said: “I am delighted that Rathcoole has won this accolade, which is richly deserved. This is to the credit of all who have worked over the years to improve and enhance the appearance of the estate.”
