Police have renewed their appeal for information about the road traffic collision near Monkstown last month which claimed the life of 46-year-old Mossley man, Jim McTier.

Mr McTier, who worked for Four Seasons Health Care as a chef at Edenmore Care Home in Jordanstown, died on Friday, November 15 when his black Hautian HT125 motorcycle was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa car at the Monkstown Road/Doagh Road junction.

The incident happened at around 6.50am and investigating officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Police believe that prior to the collision, a silver van was travelling behind the motorcycle on the Doagh Road before taking a slip road onto the Monkstown Road, and are appealing for the driver of this vehicle to contact them,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or was travelling or walking on the Monkstown Road or Doagh Road at the time of the collision is asked to contact officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 0845 600 8000,” she added.
