DOAGH village residents have called for a new road layout and a reduced speed limit on the Rectory Road at the junction of Bridge Road.

The call comes after an incident on Saturday when a car ended up overturned in a garden of a home opposite the junction.

Residents have asked the Roads Service to consider changing the junction from a give-way to a stop, and move the 30mph speed limit zone earlier along the road so as to encourage drivers to slow up before the junction.

And despite the police also recommending these changes be introduced, the Roads Service has so far failed to act.

“It is an accident waiting to happen, but because nothing serious has happened the authorities will not act,” said local resident, Raymond Beard.
