IT MAY have been the visit of The Princess Royal that drew such a large crowd to the official opening of the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust’s new riding therapy centre in Newtownabbey last week, but it was the children of Thornfield House School in Jordanstown who took centre stage.

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne visited the borough on Thursday morning (June 23) to mark the launch of the EST Belfast centre near Ballyrobert - the first engagement on her one-day visit to Northern Ireland.

She was greeted at the new complex by Joan Christie OBE, Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim, South Antrim MP William McCrea, Newtownabbey Mayor Billy Webb, EST Chief Executive John Akers, and local EST Centre Manager Tina Symington.
