The council has teamed up with Glengormley Chamber and Traders’ Association to launch the Spend Local, Save Local campaign.

The campaign is aimed at encouraging local residents to shop locally, as well as helping them to save money.

Local residents can now benefit from a range of exciting deals from shops and service providers in Glengormley including:

• A free legal expenses policy (value of £15) when purchasing an insurance policy with EA Davies & Co Limited

• A Shellac manicure and pedicure for £22.50 (normally £50) at Pretty Polished

• A 10% discount on the agreed fee for sale properties with McMillan Estate Agents

• A lunchtime fry with tea/coffee for £4 at Eden Café

The President of Glengormley Chamber and Traders’ Association, Iain Patterson commented: “We are delighted to support the Spend Local, Save Local campaign.

“The scheme will encourage new customers to our local businesses by raising awareness of the products and services available and also reward the loyalty of returning customers.”

Spend Local, Save Local cards will be delivered to all households in the Glengormley area week commencing Monday, November 23.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Council is hoping to work with other traders’ groups to run the scheme in other areas of the borough in the coming months.

Indeed, it’s understood the local authority is planning to launch a similar campaign in Ballyclare before Easter 2016.
