Sporadic violence ‘destroying lives’

SPORADIC violence in the Church Road area is destroying people’s lives and causing misery, according to the Glengormley Community Group.

The group’s Chair Martine Andrews praised the police for helping to quell trouble between warring factions in the Glebe Road West and Church Road interface area over the past number of weeks.

However, despite the efforts of officers there have still been a small number of attacks on homes in the area and reports that a 16-year-old was attacked by a group of teenagers.

Martine said crowds of young people have been gathering in the area over the past number of nights for pre-arranged clashes.

“The police have been fantastic, you could not ask more of them,” she said.
