At around 11.30am a thief broke into the vehicle by smashing a window and stole a brown coloured handbag before making off on foot towards O’Neill Road.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Arnie O’Neill said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who believes they may have witnessed the offender running away, to contact police in Newtownabbey on the non-emergency phone number, 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
The incident is the latest in a series of thefts from vehicles parked in local cemeteries.
