Three men were arrested in the Shore Road area on Thursday, July 4 after police stopped a stolen vehicle.
Officers from the Macedon policing team stopped the stolen black BMW 3 Series near Bawnmore at around 5pm.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, made off from police, however he was arrested a short distance away on suspicion of a variety of motoring and theft offences including taking a vehicle without authority. Two other men aged 19 and 25 were also arrested nearby on suspicion of theft offences and allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen vehicle.
All three were later released on bail to return for further questioning at a later date.
It’s understood the vehicle was stolen with keys from outside a property in South Belfast on June 30. A number of the suspected offences are believed to relate to thefts from a garden centre on the Saintfield Road in Lisburn on July 4.
