THE Woodland Trust and the PSNI have appealed to members of the public to help put a stop to the destruction being caused on Carnmoney Hill by scrambler and quad bike riders.

The Trust, which thanks to a partnership with Newtownabbey Borough Council cares for almost 200 acres of land on the hill, revealed this week that the actions of irresponsible scrambler and quad riders is causing significant damage to the environment and wildlife within the local nature reserve.

And, responding to the conservation charity’s concerns, Newtownabbey Police have warned those using the area as an illegal scrambling track that they could face prosecution.
