An investigation is underway after footage has emerged, appearing to show a Translink bus driver letting school pupils off on a busy M2 off-slip.

The footage was filmed by a car dash-cam on the Sandyknowes country-bound off-slip yesterday.

Cars are seen travelling down the inside lane towards Mallusk in the footage which was shot at rush hour.

The car recording the video, also in the inside lane, then slows and stops as an Ulsterbus in middle lane, allows a number of passengers off.

Three passengers, who appear to be schoolchildren, are then seen exiting the bus before quickly moving across to the grass verge before walking towards Sandyknowes roundabout.

Commenting on the incident, a Translink spokesperson said: “We take safety breaches extremely seriously and we have already begun a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

The incident comes only days after the PSNI ran a road safety campaign, ‘Safer Roads.’
