THE council has taken steps to remove old and damaged tress in the Manse Road/Doagh Road area.
Workmen began to remove the tress along part of the Newtownabbey Way last week.
A council spokeswoman explained: “Coniferous trees which are showing signs of damage and decay after having reached maturity are currently being felled in the Doagh Road forest area.
“The cleared area will then allow for natural re-generation of the land. Over the coming weeks, the timber will be removed using the traditional practice of horse logging.”
