Wholetime and retained firefighters from Glengormley Fire Station gathered at the Glen Inn on Friday, February 21 to pay tribute to two long-serving former colleagues.

Jim Hewitt, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service watch commander with Glengormley Retained, presented firefighter David Rice and former watch commander Eddie Reilly with special mementos to mark their years of loyal service as retained firefighters.

The event, organised by firefighter Brian Dunlop, was also attended by family and friends of both men.

David, from Mossley, served with Glengormley Retained for 13 years and now works as a full-time firefighter at Belfast International Airport.

Eddie, from Carnmoney Road, served as a retained firefighter in Glengormley for 35 years. He retired from his role as watch commander last year but still works for the NI Fire and Rescue Service as a manual technician.
