Four Newtownabbey recipients were among winners at the 34th annual The William Keown Trust Awards.
Zahra Baz and Aimee Gallagher received a Child of Courage Certificate of Merit, Philip Childs received an Adult Achiever’s Certificate of Merit and a Carer’s Certificate of Merit was awarded to Louise Meehan.
The Trust received a high volume of nominations for this year’s Personal Achievement Awards. The Newtownabbey winners were among 66 award recipients from across the Province.
The William Keown Trust highlights the achievements of and promotes the dignity of people with disability.
The ceremony took place in the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown recently.
Philip Beattie, chairman of the Trust welcomed recipients, their famililes and friends, Trust president former UTV presenter Kate Smith, Craigavon mayor Councillor Colin McCusker and council dignitaries.
The mayor gave a special welcome to Kelly Gallagher a gold medal winner at the winter Paralympics Games who was present to receive a special trophy from The William Keown Trust in recognition of her great achievement.
To conclude what was a memorable afternoon for all concerned, Olive Fulton, director and treasurer of the Trust proposed a vote of thanks.
