THE police have been called in to investigate a vandalism attack at Ballyearl golf course on the evening of Monday, April 15.
Damage was caused to the greens on the first, second and third holes of the nine hole course.
The course was closed all of last Tuesday morning while the council’s green staff carried out repairs on the affected greens.
The rest of the centre was unaffected.
The council has said the course was closed during what is normally a quiet period and any loss to income would have been “minimal”.
A spokeswoman said the matter have been reported to the police and CCTV footage was being examined to determine who was behind the attack.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on 0845 600 8000, alternatively information can be passed to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Recently the council approved a rebranding of Ballyearl in order to capitalise on the golfing side of the business.
