POLICE have appealed to motorists who use Hillview Avenue in Cloughfern to refrain from illegal parking.
A PSNI spokesman confirmed that a number of complaints have been received about cars being parked across people’s driveways, on pavements, on single and double yellow lines and within 15 metres of junctions - all of which are offences.
“Thoughtless parking in the area means that pedestrians, including mothers with prams, disabled members of the public and the elderly, can be forced to use the road, creating a greater risk of harm or injury to them and potentially other road users.
“At this stage police are advising motorists to show respect to residents of the area and adhere to parking regulations. The situation will be monitored and if the problem persists, the use of fixed penalty notices and possible prosecutions will be considered,” he added.
