WI ladies plan Spring Meeting

MEMBERS from the Institutes in the Knockagh Area group are looking forward to their Area Spring Meeting which will be held on Thursday, April 26 in Templepatrick Presbyterian Church hall at 7.30pm.

Special guest speaker will be Anne Hailes, who started her career with UTV at the age of 17 and is well remembered for her ‘Ask Anne’ programme.

Members from Ballyclare, Ben Madigan, Carnmoney, Carrickfergus, Glengormley, Mossley, Muckamore, Straid and Templepatrick WIs will have the opportunity to compete in the Craft, Floral Art and Baking competitions.

The various competitions will be as follows: Novice Craft - Handmade WI Anniversary Card (any medium), Open Craft - WI Beaker Bag (any medium), Novice Floral Art - An arrangement in a cream jug (width not exceeding 9 inches), Open Floral Art - An exhibit for a party table entitled ‘Let’s Celebrate’ (width not exceeding 12 inches. Accessories may be used.), Novice Baking - Tea Loaf 1lb tin, Open Baking - 7-9inch round Victoria Sandwich filled with butter cream and jam and dusted with icing sugar, Morton Trophy - (one entry per Institute) 4 Flakemeal biscuits, Carrot cake 1lb tin and 2 Griddle Soda Farls. All entries must be submitted by 7.15pm.

Entertainment on the evening will be provided by Ballyclare WI. Admission price: £4 (includes supper).

The evening promises to be an interesting and enjoyable one, and members are reminded to bring their own cup.
