A LEADING local charity is urging people in Newtownabbey to make sure they make a will.

According to the NI Hospice, more than two-thirds of people here don’t have a will, meaning they may not have made proper provision to ensure their loved ones can enjoy a secure future.

March 26 - 30 is Northern Ireland Hospice’s Make a Mill Week, when the fee that would usually go to the solicitor is being wavered in lieu of a donation to the local charity. The campaign is a joint initiative between Northern Ireland Hospice and the Belfast Solicitors Association.

The Hospice estimates that next year 1 in 6 of its patients will be cared for thanks to gifts left to the charity in people’s wills.
