A Mossley man who was left paralysed after a back operation has raised more than £2,000 for the Mitre Trust at Musgrave Park Hospital.

Willie Reid was joined by family and friends at Nortel Social Club on Friday, June 24 for a special fundraising evening in support of the unit where he has undergone extensive physiotherapy treatment since sustaining his spinal injury.

The event, which featured comedy from Barry Brent and Big O, as well as music from Noddy and DJ Craig Dalzell, raised £2,030 for the Mitre Trust.

Willie thanked all those who supported the event, and those who made donations via his JustGiving page.

“I am really appreciative to everyone who helped us raise such a great amount of money,” he said.
