Women’s group gets crime prevention advice

Newtownabbey PSNI’s Crime Prevention Officer, Stuart Gibson, held a presentation at Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle last week for ‘Women Together’ - a local group which meets regularly in the church.

Around 100 elderly ladies from Newtownabbey and surroundings areas, some of whom have been victims of burglaries or scams in the past, attended the event.

Advice was given on home safety, doorstep/bogus callers and scams. A home safety video and an interactive video warning how easy it is to become a victim of a distraction burglary were shown. A question and answer session provided an opportunity for issues to be addressed and Mr Gibson handed out crime prevention items and leaflets.
