A group of Year 10 pupils have been crowned the winners of Ballyclare Secondary School’s Achievement Point Challenge.

Pupils were set the task of striving to give their best effort and improve in four areas of school life - academically, uniform and appearance, the school environment and respect for others.

Achievement Points were awarded to those who were seen to be making the effort to better themselves and the school.

“We wanted a system in place to recognise those fantastic young people who sometimes do not get the attention they deserve - those pupils who consistently perform to the best of their abilities,” explained vice-principal Mr Houston.

All those who achieved more than 15 points, awarded by staff, were taken on a cinema trip, with special awards going to the top three.

The top prize of an iPod Nano, sponsored by Dennison Commercials, went to Penny Richmond. Second prize, a pair of Dr Dre Beats earphones, went to John Alcorn, and third was Tanya Ullah who won an ipod shuffle, both prizes having been provided by Danske Bank, Ballyclare.
