Mayor Fraser Agnew has been visiting play areas around the borough which have recently undergone enhancement work under phase one of a major refurbishment scheme.
A total of £97,000 was spent on the play areas in Ballyduff, Ballynure, Bawnmore, Mallusk, Glengormley, Hazelbank and Rathcoole. Works included the installation of new play equipment and safety surfacing.
“Our parks and play areas are used on a day-to-day basis by local families and visitors and so these facilities do require maintenance and a facelift from time to time. The recent works carried out have tidied these play areas up and ultimately made them safer and I hope residents are happy with the improvements,” alderman Agnew commented.
Phase two of the scheme will include play areas in Anderson Park, Doagh; Erskine Park, Ballylcare; Loughshore Park, Jordanstown; Kings Park, Fernagh; Parkmore Terrace, Longlands and Mossley Park.
It’s understood that the phase two works are scheduled to be completed by the end of March, 2014.
