1st Ballyclare BB reach finals

The team, made up of Brian Weatherup, Matthew Taylor and James Crone, were the first from Ballyclare Presbyterian Church to make it to the UK finals.

The boys won the Irish title to progress to the UK finals, which were staged in Belfast on Saturday, May 7.

Competing against the top teams from the UK, the team from the Doagh Road church finished in fifth place.

Praising the boys for reaching the final, captain Niall McConkey said: “The boys played really well to reach the UK finals. It was great to have the opportunity to play teams from across the United Kingdom. James will be leaving the BB this year, so we will need a new boy to replace him. We are already looking forward to competing in the table tennis competition at Irish level next year.”
