The event raised a grand total of £3,000, which will go towards funding the refurbishment of two rooms at the unit used by teenagers going through cancer treatment.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott and his wife Audrey were in attendance at the start of the event to see the 130 cyclists set off from Kilbride Presbyterian Church.

There were two routes on offer, 90km and 45km, both offering some of the finest scenic roads in the borough and surrounding area.

With a pre-ride breakfast, a food stop at Glenarm Baptist Church and a well deserved BBQ for all at the finish, no one went home hungry.

Kilbride Cyclists (www.kilbridecyclists.co.uk) have thanked all those who took part in this year’s event or helped with the organisation.
