Staff and pupils at Whiteabbey Primary School wore pink last Friday for a special Giro d’Italia-themed charity fundrasier.

They were joined at the event by representatives from Sustrans, the active travel charity, East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross and DJ Pete Snodden and his team from Cool FM.

The fundraiser, which was organised to celebrate the arrival of the Giro, was held in support of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Pupils donated money to the charity in exchange for being allowed to ditch their school uniforms for the day in favour of some bright pink fashions. They also got the opportunity to take part in a range of fun activities, including bicycle races around the playground.

Principal Peter Wright said that the event had been a great success, with around £700 being raised for the charity on the day.
