A YOUNG Glengormley woman is preparing to jet off to Africa on a 10-day humanitarian mission during which she will help complete building work at a village school in an impoverished part of Uganda.
Leanne Mckinley, a recently-qualified nurse from Fernridge, is a member of the Abundant Life Church in Belfast.
The church, which is based in Bradford, actively supports the work of the Watoto charity - a humanitarian organisation working in the Gulu region of northern Uganda.
The 22-year-old will head off on April 19 as part of a team of 16 people to help finish off work on a new classroom at a village school in the area.
Leanne, who travelled to Uganda with a team from the church in 2008 to work on the first phase of the building project, described the living conditions for people in parts of Gulu as “horrendous.”
