Looking back... Ballyclare fans get behind Jamesie Kirk

Members of the Ballyclare Comrades Supporters Club were fully behind their recently appointed manager, Jamesie Kirk in June 2001.

The supporters pledged to give him as much financial support as possible.

“I don’t know whether we will be able to promise a renewal of the £10 per man winning bonus scheme we operated last season,” stated treasurer Paddy Kelly, “but we will do our best in other ways.

“We had one of our worst seasons ever last year and did not have to pay out too often, but with a local man in charge we are optimistic that the results will be better.

“Jamesie Kirk has given yeoman service to his home town club having made over four hundred and fifty appearances in each of which he was always playing for the shirt. He gave nothing less than one hundred per cent on the pitch and we are hoping that he will take management in his stride.”
