IT turned out the best day of the week for Lady Captain's Liz Armstrong's Captain's Day.
The weather was perfect for golf and there was a real buzz around the club in anticipation of who would win the prizes.
The overall winner was Ann Mairs with a fabulous 40 points. Ann made a great speech and was truly delighted and surprised to ha
ve won Lady Captain's Day.
Lady Captain's prizes were fabulous and the range of prizes were very generous indeed. The Lady Captain herself made a great speech in which she thanked all those who had made her day so special - her committee and the catering staff and the golf club’s new chef Tom McPeak who put on a fabulous meal for the lady captain and all her guests who were very impressed with the standard and quality of food.
Liz also thanked the bar staff for all their help and the greenkeepers who had the course looking fabulous for her day. Liz had a special word for her family and thanked them for all their support throughout her year so far.
The Lady President made a speech thanking Liz for her commitment to the club and the President and Vice Captain praised Liz also for her hard work. Liz thanked the visiting captains and guests.

Winner - Section A 0-22 - Fionnuala Crossey, 36; runner up - Bea Boyce, 35.
Winner - Section B 23-29 - Patricia Smith, 35; runner up - Jacinta Rooney, 35.
Winner - Section C 30-36 - Margaret Mulligan, 37; runner up - Robina McCandless, 37.
Committee Prize - Maire McCambridge, 33; Past Captains - Mary Parkes, 36; Putting Prize - Denise McBrien, 27 putts.
First Nine - Myrtle Watt, 18 points; Second Nine - Liz Ramsey, 23. Pink Ladies was won by Pat McCartan.
Men’s Winner - Brian Boyd, 40; Runner up - Neil Diamond, 40; best gross - Rory Leonard, 38.
Mixed Greensomes winners - Seamus and Jacinta Rooney, 36; runners up - Yvonne and Eamon Galloway, 34.
Juvenile Boy - winner - William Malcolmson. The juvenile girls prize will be played for on Juvenile's Day.
Twos - Denise Russell and Patricia Smith at the 12th; Rita Downey at the 18th.
Visitors men - Jim Lamb, 20 points. Visitor ladies - Betty Lamb and Lynn Hannah.
Seventy-three ladies played plus 11 pink ladies which is a great turnout. The CSS was 70.The winner of the 02 Trophy was Wendy Todd - 39 points (Section B). Section A winner - Marlene Nelson 36; Section C winner - Agnes Watt 37. Twos - Lorna Poots and Patricia Smith at the 12th; Helen Cocks at the 15th.
