Playing as St Colmans, the minors of Tullylish and Aghaderg had a great win in a very wet and windy Tecconnaught on Wednesday night.
It was the home team who settled first and led by two points before Steven O'Hare opened the visitors account with a point. On the next attack O'Hare burst through again only to be hauled down in the penalty area.
Conor Arlow's well struck spot k
ick was superbly saved by the Tecconnaught goalkeeper but a mix up in the wet goalmouth resulted in the ball being bundled over the line for an own-goal.
A Tecconnaught goal put them ahead again but St Colmans responded with points from Chris Magee, who was having a great game in Midfield, and the hard working Eugene Devlin. With the elements behind them though it was the home team who were doing most of the attacking but stout defending from the St Colman's defence, in which James and Sean McDermott and Rory Hamill were outstanding, restricted them to just one point for the rest of the first half. On the last attack before half time St Colmans got a lucky break when a Eugene Devlin free found its way to the net to leave the score, Tecconnaught 1-3 St Colmans 2-3.
St Colmans started the second half very strongly and a Eugene Devlin goal and two Conor Arlow points put them in a very strong position with 10 minutes gone. Tecconnaught continued to be a threat though but good defending from Terence O'Hagan, Conor Strain, Michael McDermott and Kieran McKivergan kept the visitors goal in tact. Further points from Kieran Maguire, Eugene Devlin and a brace from Conor McClorey finished the scoring.
St Colmans: T O'Hagan, C Strain, J McDermott, K McKivergan, S McDermott, R Hamill, M McDermott, J McKivergan, C Magee (0-1), K Maguire (0-1), E Devlin (2-2), E Lynch, C Arlow (0-2), S O'Hare (0-1) J Devlin, C McClorey (0-2)
